Metal Fabricator

Heavy Industries Theming Corporation is currently seeking a Full-time Permanent Metal Fabricator with a minimum of five years of experience to join our fabrication department in our shop located at 9192 52nd Street SE Calgary, AB T2C 5A9.

Qualifications/Skills Required

Completion of High School.

Work experience/knowledge of the construction, steel fabrication industry and custom manufacturing processes is preferred.

Current CWB certification in SMAW fillet weld vertical up is preferred.

Experience working with Aluminum GMAW welding experience is preferred.

Fall Arrest training.

Ability to climb steel and work/weld comfortably while 80’ above the ground.

Ability to work/weld from a Bosun’s Chair.

Must be proficient with using an oxygen acetylene cutting torch.

Experience operating a forklift and telehandler.

Experience operating an aerial platform.

Experience with advanced rigging and hoisting operations.

Proven shop and field fitting and fabrication experience.

Must be able to perform sophisticated compound miter operations.

Ability to work autonomously from shop drawings.

Must be an expert at layout and measuring.

Team player and safety oriented.

Valid driver’s license.

Experience in complicated bolt up operations.

Must have high energy and be physically fit, as the job is physically demanding.

Must be talented and quality oriented.

Experience in overhead crane operating is preferred.

Responsibilities

Read, study and follow complicated designs and shop drawings/blueprints.

Construct templates as guides for layouts.

Weld, fit, cut, bend, grind and finish steel and aluminum.

Climb, rig, hoist and bolt up complicated steel and aluminum assemblies from heights.

Operate heavy-duty metal-working machines, cutting torches and other machinery such as tele-handler, forklift, scissor lift/man lift and spider-crane.

Install fabricated components to the final product.

Work with other departments such as concrete, painting, sculpture and carpentry.

Work autonomously and sometimes with direct supervision.

Remuneration:

Hourly rate is at $26.75/hour and subject to the median wage at the time of hiring. You will be paid relative to the experience you bring and your accomplishments; you will be rewarded with company success. You will get 10 days of vacation (prorated), and be added to our benefits program after the 3 month waiting period.
