We are seeking a Full-Time Behavioral Health Counselor. The Behavioral Health Counselor will co-facilitate therapeutic and psycho-education groups. This position is also responsible for accurate and timely documentation as directed. The Behavioral Health Counselor assists in the planning, implementation and supervision of therapeutic, recreational and other programming based on the consumer’s individualized treatment plan. This position assumes leadership responsibilities as assigned and assists with the day to day operation of the group homes.

Demonstrating the ability to co-lead theraputic and psychoeducational group therapies targeted at assisting consumers with skill building and symptom reductions.
Structuring the physical and social environment so that every interaction and activity within the treatment program promotes positive goal-directed responses and/or social interactions from the client and facilitates the psychotherapeutic goals of treatment.
Demonstrating the ability to purposefully manage and use the structured environment as an instrument for treatment in promoting desired behaviors, encouraging a sense of responsibility and self-control, and fostering optimal functioning in activities of daily living and interpersonal interactions (environmental / milieu therapy).
Demonstrating the ability to supervise consumers in the group home setting and while on community integration outings.
Providing oversight and direction of services, which foster quality customer and community services.
Supervising, planning, and coordinating the activities of the program strategically addressing service needs that delivers or can provide in accordance with the consumer’s individualized plan of care.
Assisting in creating a vision and name recognition that allows Devereux to have impact on industry and regulatory standards.
Demonstrating the ability to document in the consumer’s record in an accurately and timely manner.
Learning and applying the program’s data collection methodology, with the ability to effectively analyze and apply results.
Demonstrating the ability to assist with developing an individualized treatment plan and/or specialized plan designed to improve overall functioning and minimize interfering behaviors of an individual receiving services.
Possessing the knowledge and ability to work as part of an intergrated treatment team in assisting consumers with their stated goals and delivering outcomes identified by the program leadership.
Supervising and interacting with clients and co-workers in a manner consistent with Center guidelines.
Facilitating proper medical care and participating in medication administration for clients.
Promoting proper care of clients, facilities and equipment.
Participating in the individual habilitation plan process.

Position Requirements

The accomplished individual will possess:

Bachelor’s Degree required.
Minimum of one year of experience providing services to youth with emotional, psychiatric and/or behavioral problems.
The skills, knowledge and ability to deliver therapeutic behavior management services to improve functioning and minimize interfering behaviors.
Excellent communication, observation and documentation capabilities.
The skills, knowledge and ability to implement interdisciplinary team approved plans and interventions for an individual receiving services.
The physical capabilities to implement controlled intervention techniques and successfully receive training certification to do so.

Job Summary Available Hours for this position are: Tues-Sat 7a-3p. Pay for this position starts at 14.00 per hour.
