Main Purpose of the Role

Assume a leadership role within the airline relating to the procurement and ongoing management and administration supporting the needs of the airline, consistent with its low cost operating mindset. Projects are capable of being very large in scope involving multimillion dollar spends over a timeline of many years involving many different companies and representatives.

Main Areas of Responsibility

· Assist the Station Manager with all aspects of Station Leadership

· Participate in Guest Service functions and leadership.

· Lead business partner relationships to deliver class-leading results in airport operations, aircraft servicing, fueling, and baggage performance.

· Develops and implements business practices that support flight expansion in station operations, connecting guest, and connecting baggage processes

· Develop and manage station cargo operations including local and connecting freight processes

· Oversee station weight and balance procedures

· Creates measures of performance to identify opportunities for improvement and celebration of success

· Effectively measure and manage safety, security, aircraft grooming, cargo, and operational objectives

· Interprets company policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective application

· Leads safety audits, related initiatives and meetings

· Interacts with the TSA and FAA on all regulatory matters affecting station operations

· Perform a key leadership role in the Guest Services department at Virgin America. Working closely with Team Members at all levels; the Operations Manager ensures a sound foundation is created, focusing on people, guests, service and common sense

· Provide professional, role model-type leadership within the Station and throughout the airline

· Establish strong communication channels internally at Virgin America and with Business partners

· Recognition and participation-seek face-to-face opportunities to recognize exceptional individual and group performance

· Partner and support service providers to ensure seamless service from ground handlers, fueling companies, baggage delivery companies and other service providers. Responsible for the management of all contract administration for the station

· Investigates service failures, incidents and accidents and compiles appropriate reports.

Professional Experience Required

· Knowledge in Guest Service, Operations, and Ramp management

· Extensive background in Airport Operations preferred

· Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in airport and ramp operations required

· Experience developing and implementing baggage loading, connection, and handling processes a plus

· Familiarity with advanced technologies for ramp operations beneficial

· Prior customer service experience desired

· Experience in managing service providers & procurement processes

· Experience in recruiting staff and using Performance Management programs

· Solid leadership skills including developing people, driving results, identifying opportunities for and managing change, etc.

· Ability to work within tight budgets

· Ability to gauge impact of expenditures on guest satisfaction

Professional Certifications and Education Required

· Bachelors Degree in related field desired.

· Administration or related field is preferred.

· An equal balance of experience and education will also be considered.

Additional Skills:

· Advanced computer/ reporting/ analytical skills required
