PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Global Corporate Affairs is responsible for SAP’s corporate reputation, communications, government relations and corporate social responsibility. The team develops strategic messaging and corporate content and engages vital audiences in dialogue.

The Deputy Head of Media Relations assists with SAP’s conventional and social media and serves as proxy corporate spokesperson.

The key areas of responsibility for Media Relations include:

Developing and pitching the right media formats and content to drive positive coverage about SAP
for key corporate issues such as strategy, earnings, strategic innovation topics and/or solution-/product-/customer-related topics …
proactively engage and build strong relationships with the relevant global, regional, and/or local media (online, print, social media, broadcast, business, and/or trade press/verticals)
Maintaining a story pipeline that strengthens SAP’s public profile with regard to business strategy, innovation and thought leadership as well as leading market position in business software
Developing new media formats and engagement models with key editors to help drive share of voice and favorability across all of SAP’s key markets
Developing and executing annual media relations plans in alignment with the overall Global Corporate Affairs plan.
Identifying budget requirements and managing financial forecasts.
Building and maintaining a network of trusted relationships with relevant members of the media and blogger communities
Channeling direct feedback from media and bloggers as well as media monitoring results into the communications planning process

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Develop push and pull channels and formats designed for media /bloggers
Develop creative story pitches
Ensure continuous dialog with selected key journalists/bloggers for mutual trust and insight
Manage agency resources and quality in support of Media Relations key responsibilities
Develop PR strategies and messaging for critical communications scenarios and objectives
Provide PR advice and guidance to senior management
Manage critical communications projects/campaigns
Analyze media-monitoring data and deriving need for adjusting communications strategy and tactics
Provide regular updates on achievements against objectives to team leads

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree with focus on communications or equivalent; advanced degree preferred

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Fluency in English and German; other languages are a plus
Proven track record to interact with executives/top management
Excellent writing skills in German and English
Understanding of / interest in SAP strategy and its technologies and applications
Strong ability to competently and most professionally deal with confidential and sensitive information

Work Experience
10+ years’ experience in Media Relations, Journalism or equivalent
Experience of working with top and senior management
Strong experience and knowhow in the IT industry
Proven ability to develop integrated communications strategy and programs
