The Biological Life Sciences Operation of the Federal Health Operation is seeking a Biomedical Life Scientist who will perform as a productive member of a team that supports program management and research proposal funding processes for the Army in Frederick, MD. This is NOT a laboratory research position.

This position requires a US citizen in order to obtain US DOD security clearance.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Candidate will apply scientific expertise to several Congressionally-directed, medical (predominately cancer-related) research programs. The job entails, but is not limited to, the detailed analysis, integration, categorization, summarization, and application of a broad spectrum of biomedical and health-related information and data in response to a diversity of customer-generated requirements (e.g., response to inquiries from the Army, other government agencies and Congress, and private sector). Responsiveness, as well as open and frequent coordination and discussion with a multidisciplinary and goal-oriented group, are inherent elements of the day-to-day operations. Candidate must be capable of independent action and initiative. Responsible for the design and implementation of research protocols and developing analytical approaches

Candidate will use expertise in one or more of the following areas: biochemistry, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, clinical and experimental therapeutics, pharmacology, military operational medicine, etc. This position is located in Frederick, Maryland. Some travel required.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: A Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university appropriate to research is required, with one year related experience.

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are required; technical writing experience is preferred. Training and experience in biological sciences, particularly cancer research, is essential. Candidate must be able to interact in a positive and competent manner with individuals at all levels of responsibility, and willing to address a wide range of rapidly changing and divergent issues. Candidate must be capable of applying and integrating knowledge from multiple sources toward solving problems of a research nature. Candidate must be capable of working alone or with a technical team of researchers. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to set and meet goals are necessary. Experience in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) in a PC environment is essential.

DESIRED SKILLS: (1) Organizing and implementing scientific meetings; (2) review, analysis, and evaluation of interdisciplinary scientific research programs; and (3) experience with database programs (e.g. Access).

Requires US Citizen with the ability to obtain a site clearance.
